Job Summary: The Environmental Assistant will aid in the development and implementation of CNOOC Uganda Environmental Management plan and ensure that CNOOC plans are in line with relevant environmental laws and regulations in Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Support in the development of the waste management plan and procedures, including the oil spill contingency plan.
Engage and deliver strategies for EIA, EMPs and regional management plans;
Coordinate the EIA function and related study work.
Build frameworks to embed environmental decision making into operations.
Provide project support/leadership to various initiatives and development goals.
Play a lead role in audit and closeout of issues of company operations.
Guide and support field environmental officers in the management and monitoring of environmental performance of company operations.
Assist in the development and implementation of the environmental training plan and training material.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Possess a Bachelors Degree in Environment, Natural Resources or equivalent.
At minimum of five (5) years of field environmental related experience preferably in oil and gas facilities.
Waste management practice / disposals.
Environmental and social impact assessments management plans.
Knowledge of ISO 14000 environmental management systems or integrated EHS MS.
Knowledge on Environmental legislation.
Knowledge of Oil spill contingency systems and strategies planning.
Inshore and offshore exploration and development experience/knowledge.
Clear understanding of key areas of environmental management including biodiversity, climate change and resource management, and implementation of practical solutions.
