An official from the African Institute of Energy Governance (AFIEGO) said that the government of Uganda is failing to uphold the Resettlement Action Plan in the Oil refinery project.

Doris Atwijukire said the delay in the implementation of the resettlement program has subjected over 130 families to dire need, without basic necessities.

This came as a result of government’s decision to set a cut-off date in 2012, stating that effective June 2, 2012, nothing on the refinery land will be considered for compensation.

Below are the facts and figures on the current situation in the resettlement and compensation exercise in the oil refinery project.
